Sakura Terrace: Spicy Yakiniku Don

There’s a quaint little restaurant near my house called Sakura Terrace Japanese Cafe. It’s a local, Japanese-style cafe with a small menu, but delicious and filling food. I’ve been there a couple times with my dad and my boyfriend. Everytime I go, I get this:

Spicy Yakiniku Don (“yakiniku” is basically grilled meat, for those of you who don’t know what that is… :))

This dish consists of what I believe to be:

  • Thinly sliced meat
  • Chopped onions
  • Chopped green onions
  • Teriyaki sauce
  • Chili pepper powder
  • Maybe some sesame seed/oil

All served over a bed of rice. It’s SO. DELICIOUS!

And… SIMPLE to whip up at home! Now here’s an idea; I of course am at the restaurant when I eat this, but I caught myself thinking about how easy and convenient it would be to make at home! If you have time, try it out and let me know how yours turned out (or send some my way)! If you don’t like rice, I’m pretty sure that it would be just as good, if not better, served over a hot bowl of garlic mashed potatoes or something of the like.

I hope I made you all hungry now! 🙂
