Sasha Buddy

July 6, 2014 Leave a comment

Hey gang! I just wanted to update you on the going-ons.

I’ve been quite busy with my cat, Sasha. She’s very very old. She was my grandma’s cat up until I pretty much inherited her a few years ago.

I’ve been catching her up on all her vet appointments and such because my grandma never did those type of things for her–not because she was lazy or anything of that sort–but because she never felt the need to do so.

Sasha has always been a pretty healthy cat. She keeps to herself and doesn’t get into fights with the neighborhood animals and always stays very close to the house. Anyway, as I was getting her caught up on her vet visits, I found out that she is actually going through kidney failure. She’s a very old cat, probably nearing 18 or so, and it’s just kind of luck of the draw if a cat develops this in their old age. She still acts like her normal self. Quiet, loving, begging for treats, and maintains her steady health otherwise.

She does needs to be given an IV every other week, if not sooner than that, so it can help her kidneys flush everything out.

Most recently, she’s been spotting blood in her urine. She’s also urinating on odd things, like the bed, the couch, surge protectors, etc. First, the vet thought it might have been a urinary tract infection (UTI), so he prescribed an antibiotic that I had to give her twice a day by syringe into the mouth.

The blood didn’t clear up and she’s still peeing everywhere, so I took her into the vet again, and he did a non-invasive probe over her bladder area, and found a mass of some sort either near or in the bladder.

I have an ultrasound scheduled for her this week because he said that that will actually give a clearer picture of what that mass might be. Worst case scenario, it is a tumor. Best case scenario, it is just a blood clot.

Either way, I hope they can detect what’s wrong so I can help to get Sasha treated and then into recovery. I love her so much and don’t want her to be in pain or to suffer. She looks like she strains a little right now when she urinates, so I’m hoping that they can help her sooner rather than later.

Other than that, she’s perfectly fine and actually quite healthy. Even in the stages of her kidney failure, she’s still maintaining pretty steady and good health.

Just wanted to update you all. Hope for the best! And I will keep you posted!

Sasha and Kitty were sitting oddly the other day. One was on the chair and one was in the garden next to a dead potted plant. Both were just sitting. Lol

Today, I did the bills for the house, and Sasha decided to “help me” out. LOL She always manages to put herself between me and whatever I’m doing. But she’s just so darn cute, who could be mad?

Driving People To The Airport

January 23, 2013 Leave a comment

Today, I had to go with the BF to drop off his cousin and his other cousin’s boyfriend at the airport. I prepped my car by emtpying my trunk AND by lining my seats with towels. Why towels? Because the cousin’s boyfriend was going to take his cats to the airport for transport.

What ended up happening? He couldn’t get his stuff together and his cats together in time, so we oly had to take the BF’s cousin to the airport.

So much hubbub. LOL

Sasha, My Flame Point Siamese Cat

My flame point Siamese cat, Sasha, is my buddy. And I mean, MY. BUDDY. She’s about 16 years old but she’s still in VERY good health and she loves to be around each person in my family. She spends individual time with each of us and even gets lonely if we’re not around.

She starts to do this weird meow if she gets lonely. So I call her and walk over to her and then she’s okay.

She’s kind of a neat cat though because she’s very patient. She lets little kids pet her. Even if they’re petting her “backwards” or against her fur grain.

She waits at the table patiently or joins us when we eat dinner because she wants to be a part of the group. Or she puts herself right in the middle of the action.

image

She puts her paw up with no claws and meows at you (very intelligently, as my boyfriend puts it) when she wants your attention.

She sleeps anywhere.

And she is just the funniest, CUTEST cat. EVER.

Yes, I’ve Been MIA.

Yes, I’ve been MIA. It starts off with me having something really interesting that I want to tell you, and then ends with me… not.

To make it up to you, here is one of my favorite pictures of my cat, Sasha. She is SO funny. She settles in to sleep in random places and if the light is too bright, she either covers her eyes with her paws, or she finds some way to shield her eyes, like so:
